Most people would say---first up-where do they come up with these names for towns?
Reminds me of the show-Petticoat Junction.
I moved to the country-still in the state ( lol) with my boyfriend and this is one of the post office locations, I have used......... the last time with disastrous results.
I had collected, over a three month period, items, that I thought my daughter would enjoy receiving.
Some unique-some quite expensive-some inexpensive....and some priceless.
We, my intended and I, have been working such long periods without any time off, that I would see something, at vendor shows, or everyday shopping, or purposely shopping and would say, oooohhhh, "Jen would like that".
I had saved some items, that we had bought together, during our trip to Salem, when I visited her in Boston, and those too, went into the box.
My daughter and her delightful husband have moved-out of the state---and I miss them very much.
Fall is a special time of the year.
For many of us.
It is actually when my only child was born.
Probably, all of us have walked into the post office-insured a large package-sent it priority mail------I didn't get a tracking number or return receipt.
Reason...... the employee that I encountered was so flustered trying to find the correct label for insuring my box, that I, by the time she actually found it-and rang me up---I just wanted to be on my way.
I mean I had my receipt-right?
The gift, I put so much effort into----is lost.
I had included vintage clothing from the 1980's on top-inside the box-to buffer the stuff inside---not replaceable----I will never be back in that place or time.
The items cannot be valued.
I am told that in 21 days, from the day mailed, I can file an insurance claim on my lost package.
And that in 1 business day, an individual from the US Post Office will be in touch with me, regarding my lost package.
I am quite pissed. Aggravation does not quite cover what I feel.
I will not be mailing anything again, anytime soon---of any value.
I feel, after this experience---a trip would be in order..........cheaper...after this is all said and done, (even considering gas prices or airline ticket prices)-even one, 'out of state'.
My advice----always!!!!!!!-no matter how slow the postal employee is or how confused they seem-----Get that tracking number!!!!!!!!
Your package may still get lost.
Or....maybe wait a day or so and make a trip to a post office you have used successfully before.
We all hate to say: 'Well you are having so much difficulty---please let me have that package back'. I will take all the stickers off it myself.
Jeez.
It may still show up. Could have just gotten delayed. The post office has come a long way in getting people's packages to them.
ReplyDeleteThis is my second lost package---the other one was at the UPS store......this just angers me, after spending like 30 mins. waiting for the woman clerk to get the insurance sticker right.I had to tell her that other PO's had loaded the sticker into the printer----which she then did. May not be related-but I feel it must after her issues. Gives me a bad vibe about them Chele.
