I type 60wpm---and my mind flies along at a faster pace than this, however, I try to curb my tongue from running at the same pace...lol
Let's face it----we have a new election coming up in 2012-for the most important office in our country--however---talking about issues that face us-the politicians running-and the issues that will be left for any incumbent or incoming administration to deal with, and more importantly how they will deal with those issues-----is taboo. Why?
All people get into heated arguments over even the most minor issues.
And.......it has been suggested that there is a liberal, moderate, and conservative point of view. And never the three shall meet on any subject......issues...or given Congress and the present Administration-----solution. Why?????
Doesn't everyone want the same thing------good things for us all? Ya think?????? We, of course, would suppose.
And then religion, or actually, no religion......I am an avowed Christian and I do not intentionally try to convert anyone to my way of thinking. Yet, when you say this, people look at you like you have spoken a dirty language--not word-----language.
I remember when a certain comedian-shot down the elderly, white folks ( his words) Christians, fat people ( him again) and when I said, "way to go, Asshole" --I got written-up by my own Daughter----here I will say---I defer to her judgement--because she is a better person than I and I adore her...I admit it.
I respect all religions that respect all people. I respect all people who have no religious affiliation--that respect all people. I figure---"free will" takes care of it all. Harassing people to your way of thinking is wrong---be it a Saint, Sinner, or Angel, you are trying to convince that your religion is best. Doesn't work-not suppose to.
As to relationships, I am in a committed relationship and consider myself very lucky to have found such an amazing man. And his Southern-isms keep me laughing all the time. I love his accent and stories of when he was young-growing up in a small Southern town. I have even tried cooking Southern dishes--experiencing some cool new foods...never had before.
And I would never-ever speak rudely or inconsiderately about other peoples relationships....the plain fact is---we all know what works for us...and are lucky to find someone in this crazy world who loves us and that we can love. Leave it at that---but people don't.
So what are the answers? Individual, as they are---we need to come together for an understanding on how to be respectful-decent-and considerate of all points of view. It is an evolutionary process that we all traverse in our lifetimes......some moving faster getting "up to speed" than others....and that is okay-if we actually get there. if we don't----there-in lies the rub.......and harms us all.
Try to keep an open mind----free advice--and listen to others point of view----you may actually learn something of value-you can use in your life. We all share the same space......would be nice to enjoy it.
I don't think everyone wants good things for us all. Many only want good things for themselves. Yet they carefully choose their words so it appears they want to benefit everyone. Such is the life of a politician. Guess that's why I'll never be one :)
ReplyDeleteI believe that also, unfortunately. And I believe it takes a rare type to be a long-term politician.
ReplyDeleteWell not too rare.... look how many have infested Washington!
ReplyDeleteSorry-rare, in this conversation=sarcasm......
